The Casa Colonica is an independent accommodation on two floors, the “padronale” villa section of a traditional Tuscan farmhouse in the Leopoldine style. Originally dating from the late 18th century, the entire building has been transformed for modern living, respecting the original architectural layout and details.
2 Bedrooms, 1 large Bathroom, Sitting room, Dining/living room, large Kitchen – circa 130 square meters (1400 square feet) on two levels. Independent entrance and 180° panoramic garden. Ideal for 4-5 persons.
The entrance from the panoramic garden gives onto a sitting room with daybeds, wicker armchairs, SAT T.V. + DVD, bookshelf with guidebooks and recreational reading (+ stairs to top floor). The sitting room leads into a big “country kitchen” with a barrel arched brick ceiling, extendable table and chairs, solid wood cabinetry and granite counters. You will find in the kitchen a 5-burner gas stove and electric oven, dishwasher and washing machine.
The kitchen is extensively equipped with cooking utensils, plates, dishes, and tableware. The ground floor living quarters extend through a gracious archway, to a dining/living room, with a second door to a graveled area. There is a large antique dining table (seats 6-8) and plenty of chairs and wicker armchairs to spend pleasant evenings dining, planning jaunts and reading.
The stairs to the top floor lead up under a barrel-vaulted arch from the downstairs sitting room. Sculpted in local stone, they are topped by a child gate that can be closed for the safety of small guests and sleepwalkers. Upstairs there is a twin bedroom (poss. 3rd bed) and double bedroom (poss. child bed or crib). Beamed ceilings, antique furniture, bookshelves with recreational reading, writing desks and antique prints make each room special. The master bedroom has wicker armchairs, and occasional tables for those quiet moments. In the corridor, a long cupboard with games and baby bedding. The huge bathroom with tub/shower is also located on this floor, with a cotton rug for morning yoga.
All windows have screens. Fans provided in summer. Check out the complete list of amenities!
Casa Colonica garden
The Casa Colonica garden measures about 200 mq, and is furnished with tables and chairs, lounge chairs and umbrella. A panoramic 180° view over the Arno valley, including the Apennines in the distance, is to be enjoyed at all hours of the day. In the evening, the blue-violet hues of the hills look exactly as they did when Leonardo painted his historic landscapes. At sunset, the sky becomes a dramatic canvas. Do not miss the spectacle!
