The Fienile is an historic barn, charmingly converted into a cottage with modern conveniences, designer details, and traditional architectural touches (such as the 15th-century columns supporting the archway between the sitting room and the kitchen). Each window frames a stunning view.

From the garden area, enter into a light-filled sitting room, with a small divan and two armchairs (anti-allergic upholstery) that can be supplemented with director’s chairs (stored in the veranda), The large table is perfect for mapping out daytrips, while the a library of recreational reading and games, SAT TV & DVD player are perfect for quiet evenings at home. Through an archway flanked by 15th-century stone columns is a fully-equipped kitchen with chestnut wood cabinetry and granite counter-tops, 5-burner gas stove, electric oven, full fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave oven … everything you need to have a carefree stay.
The downstairs study/3rd bedroom is equipped with desk and daybed – a second bed can be added. This room provides an ideal space for those who need a quiet space to read or work, and was conceived for artists, writers, or academics on sabbatical. At the same time it provides an extra bedroom for larger groups of friends and families with stair-challenged parents, or adolescent children who need their own space. Attached to the study / 3rd bedroom is a bathroom with shower (90×90 cm).
Down three steps from the kitchen is a large enclosed veranda, with breathtaking views onto the Valdambra and Chianti hills. The windows can be opened during summer, but in winter help trap the sun to make this a lovely place to curl up with a book. The veranda gives out onto an enclosed patio with table and chairs for that evening aperitif, watching the sunset behind the 12th-century tower of Galatrona. The little iron gate makes the patio into an enclosed play area for small children.
The stairs leading up to the first floor are topped by a panoramic window with a view onto the hills of the Valdambra. A wrought-iron safety gate at the top can be closed for children. The landing gives access to two bedrooms and a shared bathroom.
The Master bedroom has views onto the Valdarno and Appenine mountains. One of the walls features a n architectural detail that has been carefully preserved: two windows give out onto “nido d’ape” brickwork, characteristic of Tuscan barns. A large picture window across from the bed means waking up to an unimpeded view of the garden and Arno valley. A child cot or baby crib can be added to the master bedroom for children under age 12.
The second bedroom has twin beds (can be joined to form a king size bed) features views onto the Valdambra and Chianti hills. Another modern bathroom with shower (90x90cm) completes this floor.

Private garden and patio
The Fienile garden area (ca.200 square meters) has a scenic view onto the Arno Valley and Apennine mountains. It is furnished with table, chairs, lounge chairs and umbrella.
Off the veranda is a south-facing, graveled patio area with table and chairs. It is perfect for reading or sipping an aperitif and watching the evening light change on the Chianti hills. Silhouetted against the sky is the medieval tower of Galatrona – make sure to visit it during your stay!
